Glenn Leroy Hook, 95, died on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at Greendale Health and Rehabilitation Center in Sheboygan, WI. He resided at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls from 1996 to January, 2006
He was born January 22, 1911 in Highland County, Ohio, the son of Orlando and Myrta (Pollitt) Hook. He was a lifelong resident of Ohio until relocating to Sheboygan Falls, WI, near the home of his daughter, Carma, in 1988.
He was a graduate of Maryville College, Maryville, Tenn. And received his M.A. from the Ohio State University. He married Alma Day in 1937. She preceded him in death in 1997.
Glenn was a teacher and school administrator for 41 years in 3 Ohio schools; Locust Grove, Seaman and Georgetown. After retirement as District Administrator of Georgetown Schools in 1973, he served as Education Co-coordinator for Georgetown General Hospital for 2 years.
He was a member of numerous educational and civic organizations at the national, state and local level. Included were the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Board Member for the Brown Co. Mental Health Association. He was a member of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church and served as Elder and Sunday school teacher. In later years he pursued an interest in genealogy and published a book, "Mathias Hook of Beaver County Pennsylvania.”
Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Carma (Edgar) Collins, Sheboygan Falls, WI; Emily (James Niemiec) Hook, Sarasota, FL; two grandsons, Timothy (Laura) Collins, Mequon, WI; David (Jennifer) Collins, Sheboygan, WI; five great grandchildren, Sara, Katherine, Michael, Andrew, and Margaret Collins. One brother, Denver Hook and one sister, Mary (Everett) Burris. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and two sisters.
A private family gathering was held in Sheboygan Falls, WI. He will be buried at Fairfax Cemetery, Highland County, Ohio. A memorial service will be held in Southern Ohio to be announced at a later date.
