Donald Simpsen Obituary

Donald Ray Simpsen, 85, was born August 18, 1930 in Saybrook, Illinois to Henry and Hazel Simpsen; and died June 7, 2016 at Reedsburg Area Medical Center, Reedsburg, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Irvin and Marge Simpsen. He is survived by his wife, Helen; four daughters and husbands, Karen and Geoff Upperton, Nancy and Charles Hoch, Betty and David Morgan, and Denise and Phillip Stenstrum; along with his sister, Mary Ellen Schoon and his brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Guylan Simpsen. Don was the proud grandpa to nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. Don was a dairy farmer in the Cazenovia, WI area, and also worked for Ed Kraemer & Sons as heavy equipment operator and retired as foreman. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing (with a hole-in-one), and gathering with friends and family. Don and Helen enjoyed their retired years as snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona. Memorial and interment services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Anchor, IL on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 2:00 PM. A memorial service will also be held on Tuesday June 14, at 6:00 PM at St. John Lutheran Church, Reedsburg, WI
