Donald Fearing Obituary

Donald Dean Fearing, age 84, of Reedsburg, formerly of Lime Ridge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center. He was born on May 28, 1932, in Richland County, Wisconsin, the son of Claude and Virgie (Gillingham) Fearing. On December 6, 1952, Donald was united in marriage to Nola M. Kahler. This marriage was blessed with five children. Don was the co-owner and operator of Fearings TV and Appliance in Reedsburg for over 32 years. In his free time, Don was happiest when sitting tall on his favorite Appaloosa horse “Dude” riding the many horse trails throughout the Midwest including the Black Hills of South Dakota. He was a long-time member of the Willow Valley Saddle Club and served as Wagon Master of the Richland County Wagon Train, which precedes Wisconsin High School Rodeo Finals every year. He was instrumental in the planning and construction of the White Mound Lake County Park Horse Trail. He was extremely proud to see this project through its completion. Don served on the Weston School District Board for over 40 years. He also served on the Lime Ridge Village Board for many years serving in many capacities including Village President. He was a member of the Reedsburg Optimist Club and a faithful member of the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard “Tom” Fearing and Lester Fearing; sister, Velma (Fearing) Kiefer. In-laws; Ardith Fearing, James Kiefer, Frank Blakeslee, Dorsey “Tuck” Botham, William and Margaret Kahler, Dan and Charlotte (Kahler) Woodard and Nettie (Kahler) Howard. He is survived by his wife, Nola; Children and their spouses, Dan (Chris) Fearing of Reedsburg, Jolene (Greg) Westerman of Reedsburg, Bruce (Gail) Fearing of McFarland, Gary (Cindy) Fearing of Lime Ridge, Dona (Charles) Moses of Stamford, CT; Grandchildren: Jessica (Tim) Phalen, Grant (Katie) Westerman, Aaron Fearing, Jackie (Tim) Brickson, Ryan Fearing, Adam and Joshua Fearing, Claudia, Amber and Christina Moses, Nick and Carrie Kleifgen; Great grandchildren: Colin and Carly Phalen, Ava and Gage Brickson, Ryan Westerman, Brianna and Bailey Kleifgen; Sisters, Lucille (Marshall) Jacobs of Wauwatosa, Bernice (Tony) Matyas of Reedsburg, Virginia Botham of Madison; Sister-in-law, Marlene Fearing; Many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends. We celebrate Donald’s life with a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Reedsburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Marvin Singh, Pastor Robert Maeglin and Pastor Elizabeth Jacob co-officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Lime Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Lime Ridge Cemetery Association or the Lime Ridge United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center for the excellent support and care given to Don and his family over the past three years. .
