Charles Volz

Charles Thomas “Tom” Volz, age 80, of the Loyd area, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Meriter Hospital, Madison. He was born on March 11, 1936, in Seven Mile Creek, Juneau County, Wisconsin. Tom farmed for several years and later worked at Hankscraft in Reedsburg where he met his wife, Cherylene Ann Herzing. They were united in marriage on June 1, 1968, in Hillpoint, WI. This marriage was blessed with three children. Following their marriage, Tom and Sherry operated a gas station in LaValle. He later became employed at Seats, Inc. in Reedsburg for 37 years, retiring in 2009. Tom was a family man, who enjoyed reading and woodworking. He was also a talented mechanic. Tom was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Hillpoint. He was preceded in death by his mother, Amy May Volz Newkirk. Tom is survived by his wife, Cherylene “Sherry” Volz; Children, Sheryl (Tim) Nordengren, Susan (Dohn) Danks, Steven Volz, all of the Loyd area; 3 step grandchildren; 6 step-great granddaughters; Brother, Harold (Jackie) Newkirk of Cottage Grove; Brother-in-law, Charles Herzing of the Loyd area; Nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Charles “Tom” Volz will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, Hillpoint, with Pastor Daniel Lewig officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Willow Township. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farber Funeral Home, Reedsburg, and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
