Clifton Sowards Obituary

Clifton Duane Sowards, 59, of Oil Creek Road Walkersville passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at his home following a sudden illness. He was born in Kanawha County on March 15, 1957: son of the late L. Paul Sowards and Carmelletta (Hall) Sowards. On June 25, 1987, he married Cathy L. (Newhouse) Sowards, who survives. Clifton is also survived by one son: Paul Lewis Sowards of Walkersville, two daughters: Amy Newhouse of Gallipolis, OH and Amanda Graley of Charleston, two grandsons: Logan and Dylan Graley and one granddaughter: Brianna Graley. He is also survived by two brothers: Kevin Sowards of Florida and Dana Sowards of St Albans, one sister-in-law: Connie Mize of Gray, GA and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sowards was a disabled truck driver. He last drove for Warner International out of Springfield, OH. He was a member of the Open Door Pentecostal faith. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and a lifetime member of the Poca Hunting and Fishing Club. One of his past times was collecting knives. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Clifton’s wishes to be cremated will be honored and celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
