Richard E. “Rick” Minear, 66, of Fairmont, passed away at 11:15am, Thursday, August 25, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Parkersburg, February 9, 1950 a son of William A. and Eleanor F. Melrose Minear. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Minear, Fairmont, one daughter, Alicia “Ludy” Gentle, Omaha, NE, two step-daughters, Melinda Godwin, Cheyenne, WY, Veronica Bradshaw and her husband David, Benton, AR, one step-son, Scott Oldaker and his wife Julie, Fairmont, two granddaughters, Anna and Josie Gentle, eight step-grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Rev. Michael Minear and his wife Debby, Little Hocking, OH, Jim Minear and his wife Karin, OH, Sister Judith Minear, Cleveland, OH, Bill Minear and his wife Beth, Charleston, WV, one sister-in-law, Melinda Minear, Bay St. Louis, MS, his dog, “Ricki”, and countless friends and coworkers. He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Julie Oldaker, and one brother, David Minear. Rick was employed as an optician for Wal-Mart for 21 years. He was a Vietnam veteran having served with the United States Army. Rick was a member of the VFW, Parkersburg and a Federal Firearms Licensee. Rick was an avid outdoorsman enjoying, hunting, fishing, boating, biking, and four wheeling. He spent his life making people laugh.
The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 10am until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 11am, Tuesday, August 30.
