Loraine Basnett

Loraine J. "Pooch" Basnett, 95, of Idamay departed on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her residence. Loraine was born February 11, 1921 the daughter of the late James Russell Martin and Maude Nay Martin. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Moorehead, second husband, Paul Basnett Jr., sisters, Thelma Starr, Dorothy Gross, Alice Wilson, Betty Moore, and brothers, Donald Lucas and Franklin Lucas. Surviving are one daughter Linda Larry and husband John, Idamay, two grandchildren, April McCullough and husband Jim of Clarksburg, John Paul Larry and wife Alyssa of Morgantown, great grandchilren Dylan and Anna McCullough, John Alek and Dominick Larry. Loraine worked and retired from Owens Illinois. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her friend Helen Knight. The family would like to extend a special thanks to People Hospice for their great care and especially her nurse, Judy Greaser. The family will receive friends at the Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St., Shinnston from 2:00pm-8:00pm Sunday, where funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday, May 23rd with Pastor Robert Shingleton officiating. Internment will be in the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.perinefunerals.com. The Perine Funeral Home is honored to serve the Basnett family.
