Mildred Ice Obituary

Mildred Virginia Ice, 92, of Paden City, died August 26, 2016, at Sundale Care Center in Morgantown, WV. She was born June 2, 1924, at Fallen Timber, Wetzel County, West Virginia to the late S.N. and Jesse Fisher. She graduated from Smithfield High School in 1942. During WWII, she and her sisters worked in a factory in Ravenna, Ohio, making raincoats for soldiers. She married Ralph D. Ice on July 12, 1947. She served as a 4-H Club leader, Mother Advisor in Rainbow Girls Assembly 11, and was active with the PCHS Band Patrons. She was a charter member of the Friends of the Art Museum of WVU. For over 60 years, she was a faithful member of the Paden City Christian Church, helping with countless funeral dinners and caring for her parents and other elderly family members. She was an excellent seamstress and a cook with a special talent for making pies. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Ice and Karen Schiffbauer, sons-in-law Ron Latimer and Earl Schiffbauer, and beloved granddaughter Elisabeth Schiffbauer, all of Morgantown; her sister Mary Alice Cozart of Kalamazoo, Michigan; her brother and sister-in-law James and Regina Fisher, and brother John Fisher all of Grafton, Ohio; sister-in-law Helen Fisher of Grafton, Ohio; brother-in-law Bill Goddard of Sebring, Florida; several nieces and nephews. A special thanks for their loving care to her nieces, Becci Edgell Loy and Debbie Ice Yurisko, and her longtime caregivers Doris Neff and Phyllis Jacobs. She was preceded in death by her husband, sister and brother-in-law Ells and Edna Lemasters; brother and sister-in-law Glen and Katherine Fisher; sister and brother-in-law Ethel and Ed Cunningham; brother Stanley Fisher; sister Wilma Goddard; sister and brother-in-law Naomi and Ron Edgell; brother and sister-in-law Thomas Fisher and Karen Fisher Tennant; other in-laws, Jane Fisher, Willard Cozart, Virginia and Denzil Jones, Helen and Kenneth Johnson, and John and Virginia Ice. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City. Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, August 29, at the Christian Church, 105 East Main Street, Paden City. Internment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, WV.
