John Barrick

John LaZear Barrick, 88, of New Martinsville, WV died Friday, August 19, 2016 while at Wheeling Hospital. John was born March 5, 1928 in New Martinsville, WV, son of the late John Paul and Goldie Blanche (LaZear) Barrick. He was a retired line foreman for Bayer Corp for thirty-six years, a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, member of Wetzel Masonic Lodge #39 A.F. & A.M., New Martinsville American Legion Post #28, volunteered several years for New Martinsville Ambulance Service and Ham Radio – Mason Dixon Club and a Protestant by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Barrick; two brothers, Dick and Roy Barrick and two sisters, Ruth Dyer and Pauline Evans and faithful canine companion, Missy. Surviving are four sons, Larry Gene (Judy) Barrick of Wheeling, WV, Dana Patrick (Glenna) Barrick of New Martinsville, WV, Robert Steven (Diane) Barrick of Cincinnati, OH and James Alan (Mary) Barrick of Paden City, WV; five grandchildren, Jason Barrick, Anna Barrick, Megan (Dallas) Braden, Ryan (Shania) Barrick and Matt (Katherine) Barrick; three great grandchildren, Jasmine, William James and Cooper Matthew and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends received 4-7 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2016 with Pastor Scott Mapes officiating. Interment in Northview Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Honor Guard services will be conducted at the end of the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made, in John’s name, to Paden City Church of the Nazarene, 104 S 5th Ave., Paden City, WV 26159 or the charity of donor’s choice.
