Donald Covey

Donald Ray Covey June 25, 1958-Sep. 20, 2016 Donald Ray Covey passed away late Tuesday night surrounded by his friends and family after many years of various ailments. If you were to ask his family though, they would tell you that he was a fighter and a survivor. For many years now he has been plagued by several illnesses and yet he always had a smiling face. Through his earlier years, Donald Ray was avid fisherman and a social individual that would help anyone in need. Throughout the years he has always been a devoted and caring husband as well as a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mary Covey and 2 brothers Eugene and Lonnie (Buster) Covey. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 38 years Brenda (Debbie) and 4 loving children: Lola (Bubbles) Moore and family of Beckley, Frank Covey and family of Beckley, Chris Covey and family of Mabscott, and Sarah Covey and family of Oak Hill. He also leaves a step-mother, Debra Sweeny-Covey of Mabscott, and 4 sisters: Ollie Mae Day of Flordia, Frankie Covey of Virginia, Norma Jean Amburguy of Virginia, and Jessica Covey of Beckley; as well as 7 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several loving nieces and nephews and his favorite dog Mickey. There will be a service held from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on Monday September 26th, 2016, at Mabscott Baptist Church at 103 Dalton Avenue, Mabscott, West Virginia, and immediatley following Donald will be laid to rest at Blueridge Memorial Gardens.
