Barbara Wooldridge Oak Hill, West Virginia Obituary

Barbara Wooldridge

He always called her “Lover”…She called him “Blue”, a marriage that began in Oak Hill, WV continues now in Heaven as Barbara Ann (Janiszewski) Wooldridge has passed away this October 16, 2016 in Fairfax, VA, she was 78 years old. She had struggled for many years with complications from diabetes, but it was a happy struggle as she enjoyed her family and many grandkids and great-grandkids, immensely. To all of them she was simply, “Mamaw”. Barbara was born in Whipple, WV on February 11, 1938. Her father was Joespeh Stanley Janiszewski, Jr. and her mother was Pauline Marie Pogorzelski. Being from a large Polish family, Barbara had man aunts and uncles. She had one sister, Angie Anady (previously deceased) who lived in Rancho Cucamonga, California. Barbara married William Bryant Wooldridge, Jr. on May 18, 1957 in Oak Hill, WV. They had three sons. Barbara is survived by all of her sons and their wives and eight granddaughters, on grandson, and two great-granddaughters. Her oldest son, Joseph B. Wooldridge and wife Shelley live in Stanardsville, VA. They have five children, Laura, Joseph Jr., McKayla, Loni, and Kelsey and one granddaughter, Alexa Mae. Her middle son, Paul D. Wooldridge and wife Julie live in Elizabethtown, PA and they have two daughters, Jennifer and Justina, and one granddaughter, Peyton. Her youngest son, Mark S. Wooldridge and wife Darcy are in Warrenton, VA and they have two daughters, Allison and Sarah. After Barbara and William married they moved to Los Angeles, CA and lived there for a short time. Their oldest son Joseph was born there. However, they decided that the West Coast was not for them so they moved back home to West Virginia. Then life’s adventure led them to Arlington, VA where Barbara was a stay at home mom to her three young sons. All three of the boys attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic grade school in Falls Church, VA. All three sons would eventually graduate from Bishop Denis James O’Connell High School in Arlington, VA. After her youngest son Mark began attending St. Anthony’s, Barbara decided to start working there as well. She worked the cafeteria part time for 7 years from about 1973 to 1979. The cafeteria was eventually shut down. Then she began working full time at the Toys-R-Us in Baileys Crossroads, VA. Barbara eventually retired from Toys-R-Us in 2004 after working there 20 years. At the time of her retirement she was the manager of the store. Barbara always loved her home state of West Virginia and found many opportunities to go back. She loved the annual State Fair held in Lewisburg and often attended with her family. She was always so proud of her sons, and many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to a visit anytime from her family. There was never a bad time to just drop on in and have something to eat and play a few hands of cards. She was so much a part of all of their lives. Surely, she will be in their hearts forever. Services will be held at the High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:30am with Fr. Paul Wharton from St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church presiding over a short ceremony along with a small procession to the burial plot at High Lawn Memorial Park with a blessing of the ground. Barbara always made donations to the American Diabetes Association. If you like, you can as well. They can be made at www.diabetes.org or you may send flowers to High Lawn Funeral Home.
