Ruth Bartlett Obituary

Ruth Bartlett, 92, of Big Bend, WV, passed away July 2, 2016 at the Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville. She was born January 22, 1924, the daughter of the late Alfred R. Holbert and Lola Norman Holbert. Until her death, Ruth was the longest surviving member of Brooksville Missionary Baptist Church (82 years), where she had taught Sunday School and served as church pianist for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred R. Holbert, Jr., and her beloved husband, Starling, to whom she was married on June 28, 1942. She is survived by daughter, Karen Altizer (Alton) of Sandridge; Son, Tom Bartlett of Spencer; Granddaughters Susan Chapman (Jerry), and Brooke Henthorn (Brian); Great-granddaughters, Rachel Rader (Seth), Aimee and Sydney Chapman; and one Great-great-granddaughter, Addilyn Paige Rader. Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at 1:00pm with Rev. Barry Skaggs officiating. Visitation will be held from 11-1 on Saturday prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow the service at Bethlehem Cemetery, Grantsville. The Family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staffs at the Minnie Hamilton Heath System for their concern and superb care provided to their mother and grandmother during her time as a resident there, and especially during the brief illness preceding her passing.
