Dorothy Jeanne Wilson, age 91 of Grantsville, WV passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Minnie Hamilton Health System surrounded by family. Born on May 25, 1925 in Charleston, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank Strange Johnson and Edythe Verna Cochran Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Janet Verne Johnson George, Ann Joan Johnson Burdick and an infant brother. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Harold “Kitty” Wilson, son Michael A. Wilson (Mary Alice), daughter Barbara Wilson Lay (Brad), foster daughter W. Kay Deem (Greg), four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, one foster grandson and two foster great grandchildren. Jeanne was an educator and writer. She started her career at a one-room school in Nicholas County, her favorite employment was as a principal in Lewis County and she gave thousands of hours to scouting, 4-H and various church programs and as a foster parent. She loved her extended family and enjoyed creating poetry and prose form her Appalachian mountain top home. To honor her wishes, a celebration of life gathering will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Minnie Hamilton Health System or Pocahontas Memorial Hospital auxiliary.
