Charles Duskey Obituary

Charles Duskey, Jr., 96, of Grantsville, WV passed away on October 5, 2016 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville, WV. He was born September 20, 1920 in Fairmont, WV, the oldest of five boys, to the late Charles and Elva Connolly Duskey. He attended a one-room school at Mt. Zion. After moving to Parkersburg, the West Fork, and Akron, Charlie, age 10, and his family returned to what he called his home at Mt. Zion. He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1940. During his school days, he fell for a local gal named Eleanor “Dink” Riddle. The couple married on October 4, 1941, and had one daughter, Dixie Dee. The family lived for He graduated from Mountain State Business College. Charlie’s outfit, attached to the Third Army, suffered a complete turnover because of loss of life. “It was a vicious time for dying,” Charlie said. He worked at the Calhoun Super Service for 37 years. He is survived by daughter, Dixie Dee Brown; granddaughter, Deanna Lynn Brown; grandson, Charles William Brown; great-granddaughter, Paige Katherine Shaver; great-grandson, Alexander Charles Shaver; brothers, Donald G. Duskey of Texarcana, TX and Ronald D. Duskey of Rotonda, FL. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Duskey, III; brothers, John Duskey and Harold Duskey; and wife, Eleanor Riddle Duskey. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, WV with Pastor Joe Law officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
