David Shoemaker

Reverend David A. Shoemaker, age 56 of Keyser, WV passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Potomac Valley Hospital in Keyser. He was born November 15, 1959 in Grafton, WV, a son of the late Frank E. Shoemaker and Cora “June” (Jeffries) Shoemaker. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Tonia R. (Scott) Shoemaker; two children, David Alan Shoemaker II, and Andrew R. Shoemaker, both of Keyser; one granddaughter, Paisley Grace Shoemaker; one brother, Charles V. “Chuck” Jeffries and wife Paula, and one sister, Sue A. “Susie” Sapp and husband Jack, all of Grafton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth Lane Wheeler and Caleb Scott. David graduated from Grafton High School with the Class of 1978, and then attended WVU for two years. During this time he came to know the Lord and felt called into the ministry. He graduated from Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, PA in 1985. It was there that he met his wife Tonia. His ministry led him to many states including Texas, Florida, Tennessee and eventually to pastor at Harvest Time Pentecostal Church in Keyser, WV. David was ordained through Nationwide Pentecostal Evangelistic Association. He worked for over 17 years at Pilgrim’s Pride as a Quality Assurance Technician. Most recently, he was employed as an AFLAC Insurance Agent. David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He enjoyed interacting with people and sharing his testimony. He loved people, and everyone was drawn to his humble and vibrant personality. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, March 25th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Lyle Berg and Reverend Chris Whiffen officiating.
