Jesse Harrison Crowder, best known as Jack Crowder, passed away on July 6, 2016 at
Central Washington Hospital following complications from Dementia. Jack was born
in Carthage, Arkansas on November 22nd 1930. He spent his childhood years in
Arkansas before traveling to Washington State, by Greyhound Bus, with his father in
1944. Jack joined the Air Force in 1946 and served in Korea for six years.
Following his service in the Air Force, he returned to Washington State and settled
in the Brewster area where in 1953, he met and married Gladys Housden of
Brewster Washington, of which he was married to, for 27 years. In 1961, Jack and
Gladys moved to the Wenatchee area where Jack entered into the profession of
Carpenter and worked in the Wenatchee area for many years. Later in life he moved
to Rock Island, WA and started a Snow Plowing and Sweeping Service which he
operated in the Wenatchee Valley and surrounding areas for several years until he
sold his business in 2009, to enter into retirement.
Jack had many hobbies and loves. He was an avid CB radio enthusiast in the 1970's.
He was a member of the Apple Capital 5-Watt Association, and sold CB radios from
his home. His radio handle was the "Road Runner". Jack was involved with the
Wenatchee Valley Super Oval Speedway where he raced and owned the #99 stock car
which won countless championships throughout the years, and was famous for it's red
color with white polka dots. Jack enjoyed operating a small cherry orchard and
could be found on summer days selling his fruit on Rock Island Road. He also
enjoyed traveling to historical sites and spending time with his little dogs, which
were his source of comfort and joy and were the light of his life.
Jack is survived by his three children Danita Clark of Lacey, WA., Robin Stone and
Brent Crowder, both of Wenatchee, WA., two sisters, Bonnie Culvert of Little Rock,
AR, and Linda Clemons of Gilmer, Texas, one brother, Jerry Crowder of Jasper, Texas and 10
Grandchildren. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 16, 2016,
at the Telford's Chapel in East Wenatchee. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley,
East Wenatchee, WA
