James Shaw Obituary

Jim Shaw Wenatchee, WA James David “Jim” Shaw was born December 24, 1929 to Benjamin Shaw and Margaret Griffin Shaw, and he entered into Heaven on October 6, 2016. Dad was the youngest son of 5 children. After High School, he served in the Army until March 1949, and while he was there he trained to become a Construction Machine Mechanic. He utilized all of the skills he learned in the Army and made a career of first being a Long Haul Truck Driver, and then eventually Diesel Mechanic and Co-Owner of Roy’s Truck Repair until retirement. Post retirement, he found a second career delivering prescription drugs for the Albertsons pharmacy and performing maintenance around the store. Dad lived in Wenatchee all of his life. He married Flora “Peggy” Hilliard on May 25, 1958. They made a life together and raised their children Billy, Jimmy and Karen. He had been a recent resident of Regency Wenatchee from August 12-October 6 where he was lovingly cared for by all of the staff, and a very special angel (Rita). Confluence Health Hospice Care stepped in for the last few weeks of his life to assist us with anything and everything we might need to care for our Dad. My brother and I can’t thank them enough for all of their help with our Dad. We all have so many fond memories of Dad/Papa. An avid animal lover, he enjoyed feeding the birds and the companionship of his dogs. His dogs were his babies, especially Kibbles, who came in to his life and helped him after the death of our mom. Dad loved to go camping and spending time at the ballpark watching his family play softball. He also never missed an opportunity to tell a good story. He was the BEST Dad you could ask for. My brother and I were so lucky! Dad was the perfect combination of father, friend, mentor and confidant. He knew how to do it all and do it with class. He will never be replaced in our hearts. Living without him will be so hard. Dad was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Peggy), all of his siblings and step-son (Billy). He is survived by his children Jimmy (Dixie) Shaw and Karen (Greg) Bruggman and 6 grandchildren between them, Gavin, Jamie, Karissa, Lacy (Scott), Katie (Bryan) and Kyle. He was “Papa Jim” to 5 great grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He was “Papa” to all of us. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday October 14 at the Evergreen Memorial Mausoleum. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to Confluence Health Hospice Care. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
