Helen Laurene (Borders) Truitt Helen was born in Ferry County on September 29, 1935 to Roland and Mary Borders. She was number 10 of 12 children. Helen grew up in the Tonasket and Republic area. Helen passed away peacefully Saturday morning, the 17th of September, after an extended illness. Helen started working at 7 years of age to help out the family. Helen owned and operated Ramsey’s Ice Cream and several other businesses after marrying the love of her life, Dick Truitt. Dick and Helen were married for 46 years. Helen enjoyed fishing, camping, RV-ing and family. Helen is survived by her husband, Dick; daughter, Gretchen (Don) Smith; son, Rick (Diana) Rhoads; stepdaughter, Veronica Truitt; two brothers; one sister; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Dick would like to thank Confluence Health and Hospice for the excellent and loving care of Helen. A memorial service will be held in the Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2:30 PM, with Chaplain Jim Caulkins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Washington Hospital Hospice. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
