Georgia Dunning, 79, of Wenatchee, WA, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 17, 2016, surrounded by her family. Georgia was born in Neihart, MT, on August 25, 1937. When she was young, her family relocated to a
logging camp outside Bly, OR, because her father worked for Weyerhaeuser. She
grew up in the mountains of Oregon watching wild horses and enjoying the
outdoors. She attended Bly High School until her family relocated to Klamath
Falls, OR, her senior year of high school.
After graduation, she attended Southern Oregon University, where she was a
cheerleader. In the 1950’s, she moved to Seattle, WA, and was employed by the
Boeing Company as a draftsman. She met her husband, Paul Dunning, while they
were both employed by the Boeing Company. They married May 9, 1959, and made
their home in the Seattle area. In the early 70’s, they moved to the Wenatchee
Valley, where they raised their four children. Georgia was an active member of
her church and community. When she was not busy raising children or watching
her grandchildren, she volunteered her time at the Mission Ridge Ski School,
Chelan County 4-H, Wenatchee Valley Softball League, Sweet Adeline’s, she sang
in the church choir, played the guitar, led many prayer groups, and was
instrumental in starting the perpetual prayer chapel at St. Joseph’s Convent.
Preceding Georgia in death were her parents. Surviving Georgia are her two
sisters and her brother. Also surviving are Georgia’s husband, Paul; her four
children: Andrea, Laureen, Tyler, and Maurya; and her five grandchildren.
A special thank you to Denise Sewell of ResCare and Hospice Services of
Confluence Health for their excellent care of Georgia.
