Naomi Hall Obituary

Naomi May Hall passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016. A strong and independent woman, she succumbed to the effects of aging at her home in Lewiston. She was born April 10, 1923, in Big Falls, Minn., to Ernest and Laura Belle Himmelright. While growing up, her family moved often as her minister father was involved in establishing churches in several Northwest communities. Naomi graduated high school in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Once her family settled in Clarkston, she worked for a time for the phone company and the Western Auto store. Following her marriage, Naomi assumed the role of housewife and homemaker, a job she never retired from. She married E. Eugene Hall on Dec. 27, 1947, in Clarkston, and they shared the next 53 years until his passing in 2000. Together, they raised two children in a warm and positive home. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Naomi was a devout Christian. Her entire family, her church and their missions were primary topics of her daily devotions. No day was started without her private worship time. Naomi took an active role wherever needed at the Wesleyan Church in Clarkston. If there was a need, she was available and willing to help. It can be said that she loved traditional hymns accompanied by piano or organ and that she never did quite embrace the newer church music with guitars and drums. Naomi felt that church music was a celebration of her faith. Naomi enjoyed reading and history. She was able to enjoy several trips throughout the country, traveling with Eugene, Kathy and Bob. Her times spent at the ocean beaches were some of her favorite memories. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy and Bob Cruthirds of Nampa; her son, Mike and Pam Hall of Lewiston; grandchildren Bryan and Tina Cruthirds (Nathaniel, Nichole, Allison) of Nampa, Cindy and Ray Griewe (Emma) of Kuna, Idaho, Kelsey and Eli Nightingale (Ryder) of Lewiston, and Karlie Hall and Cody Campbell of Kennewick; sisters-in-law Jean Himmelright of Spokane and Suzi Hall of Cottonwood; and several nieces, nephews and their families. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers Robert and Jim (Phil) Himmelright. Naomi will be remembered for her quick wit, her loving heart, her strong faith and her feisty attitude. Loved and missed by all who knew her, Naomi's passing is a loss for us and at the same time a triumphant celebration of a life well-lived. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in the Honors section, followed by a memorial service at the Wesleyan Church in Clarkston. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merchant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in memory of Naomi Hall to the Jesus Film Project, P.O. Box 50434, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
