David was born on Dec. 24, 1951, in Aberdeen, Wash., to Dorothy and Bill Westmoreland and died at home on Oct. 5, 2016, from natural causes. He was raised in Montesano, Wash., and attended school there. David worked as a timber faller in Alaska; a laborer on many construction projects in Washington, including many years at the Satsop Nuclear Site; proudly owned his own pressure washing company; and his favorite job was working with one of his lifelong best friends, Jeff Abrahamson, on many construction projects all around the Harbor. David loved camping, hiking, fishing, his award-winning bonsai and orchard plants and cruising around all the backroads. A simple trip took David many hours where he would share stories and wisdom of his awesome life. He was also quite the handyman; there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. Underneath that tough shell on the outside was a man with a heart of gold who was always willing to help others. He did many constructions jobs in lieu of a hug and was always the person that many called in any type of emergency or need. David leaves behind his wife, Diane, of 45 years; children Damian, Danica and John (he was so proud of his 3 kids!); brothers Darrell and Larry; sisters Dana and Denise; eight nephews and nieces; five great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great nephews; not to mention a long list of very special lifelong friends and many “kids” who called him dad. A celebration of life for David is planned for Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Montesano Moose Lodge starting at 1 p.m. Bring a potluck dish and a story (or 10!) to share. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
