Margaret “Margie” Aronhalt Carter, 83, of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at her home in Winchester, VA. Mrs. Carter was born October 26, 1932 in Clarke County, the daughter of the late Owen Ralph and Nellie Raye Landis Aronhalt. Margie married Charles Lee Carter, January 26, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD. She was a beautician and owned her own shop for many years. She enjoyed being a substitute teacher at Dowell J. Howard, in the cosmetology department. She was a member of the BPW (Business and Professional Women’s Foundation) and the Friendship Fire Hall Women’s Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Carter Trenum (Billy Strawderman) of Winchester; a son-in-law Wally Keckley of Winchester; five grandchildren, Ryan Oates (Raychel) of Winchester, Lucas Keckley of Winchester, Jacob Keckley (Candy) of Brucetown, Kristina Combs (Don) of Bunkerhill, WV, and Alison Sloat (A.J.) of Winchester; six great grandchildren, Tyler Oates, Heaven Combs, Aron Sloat, Alyx Lewis, Bella Jenkins and Abby Jenkins; two brothers, Harvey Aronhalt (Inez) of Purcellville, VA, Butch Aronhalt (Nancy) of Round Hill, VA and two sisters, Barbara Lail of Harrisonburg, VA and Linda Rose (Pendred) of Leesburg, VA. Margie was preceded in death by her husband Charles Carter; her daughter Winifred “Lu” Keckley; three brothers, Ralph Aronhalt, Richard Aronhalt and Howard Aronhalt; and three sisters, Nellie Jo Cockerille, Anna Shackelford and Sandy Aronhalt. The family will receive friends, Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m., at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester, VA . A funeral service will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. C. Steven Melester officiating. Entombment will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Funeral Fund of Margaret Carter c/o Jones Funeral Home, 228 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, VA 22601.
