Larry Dubyk Obituary

Larry Brian Dubyk peacefully departed this life on Thursday, July 14, 2016. He died at home surrounded by his family after a nearly 10 year battle with cancer. Larry was born on October 27, 1952, in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. He came to America in the fall of 1975 to attend BYU in Provo, UT. It was here where he met his sweetheart, Martha. After living in Utah and Colorado for a short time, Larry brought his family to Virginia where he would live for the next 33 years. Larry proudly worked for Howard Shockey & Sons for the past 29 years where he made friends with almost everyone he met. He loved to work and loved his work family. Larry was extremely dedicated to serving the Lord in whatever capacity was asked of him. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved working with the youth and young adults of the church. He was constantly serving others even when he should have slowed down. Larry's greatest work was as a husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha Leigh Clemmer, his children Nick (Jenny), Jon (Stephanie), Sarah (Jef), Katherine (Nate) and Todd, his growing posterity of 12 grandchildren, and his siblings Marlene, David and Gayle. He is preceded in death by his parents Dmytro "Matt" and Bertha Dubyk and a grandson Calvin. Larry will be remembered by many for his proud Canadian heritage, love for watching and playing hockey, and a ridiculous sense of humor. He was an inspiration to many and an example to all of how Christ would have us live. He will be dearly missed until we meet again. The family will receive visitors at Jones Funeral Home on Sunday, July 17 between 4-6pm. A memorial service in his honor will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 1pm at the LDS Chapel on Apple Pie Ridge Road. In lieu of flowers, donations or gifts in Larry's honor may be sent to further kidney cancer research: The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center: 750 East Pratt St, 17th floor, Baltimore, MD 21202 or at hopkinscancerresearch.org.
