John Hafferman
John Wayne Hafferman, “Jack”, 77, of Gerrardstown, WV, formerly of Linden, VA passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016. He was born on May 22, 1939; the son of the late George Hafferman and Margaret Williams Hafferman McCauley. He was a commercial painter and worked for Edward W. Minte Painting Co. in Washington, DC until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Allied Painters Union District Council #51 Local 890. His love of the mountains brought him and his family to the Shenandoah Valley in the early 70’s but as an avid fisherman he would take off to the bay, at a moment’s notice, to go catch that next big fish. Jack is survived by the mother of his children, Phyllis Hafferman of Winchester, VA, his daughter, Joy Lynn Hafferman Colton and her husband Dana of Front Royal, VA; his son Jonathan Wade Hafferman and his wife Cindy of Gerrardstown, WV and Kathy Hafferman of Linden, VA. ; eight grandchildren; Josh Hafferman w/ fiancee Alyssa, Cody Hafferman, Kayleigh Hafferman w/fiancée Drew, Erin Moore w/husband Adam, Cheyla Stotler w/husband TJ, Caylee Davis, Briannah Colton & Corinna Colton. 5 great grandchildren; Grayson, Bryce, Madison, Brendan and Peyton. His sister Brenda McCauley Kunkel and her husband Robin of Vancouver, Washington; and his brothers George “Newnie” Hafferman and wife Delores of St. Petersburg, FL and Arnold “Butch” Hafferman of Washington, DC. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his step father, Allen McCauley, who raised him as his own and his brother Ronnie McCauley. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct 22 at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, Va at 3 pm. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 pm.Obituary
