Edward “Peanut” Lee Fishel, 74, previously of Winchester, VA, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. Mr. Fishel was born April 15, 1942 in Winchester, the son of the late Lee Edward Fishel and Golda Mae Trumbo Fishel. Peanut graduated from James Wood High School and was a member of the James Wood Alumni. He married Mary Catherine Keller, December 1, 1962 in Winchester. He worked as a real estate agent for several years but most people will remember him from his 25 plus years he spent as a mechanic at Johnson’s Exxon. He was a life time member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. Peanut was an avid animal lover and he donated generously to the local SPCA. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Juanita Fishel of Winchester; his niece, Wendy Cook and her husband Jeremy of Augusta, WV; a nephew, Wesley L. Fishel of Martinsburg, WV; two great nieces and five great nephews. Peanut was preceded in death by his wife, August 9, 2011 and his brother, Richard Lane Fishel. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Jones Funeral Home, Winchester, VA. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., at Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of “Peanut” to the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick and Clarke County, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601.
