Abram Hege

Abram E. Hege, 96, of Street, MD passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016. He was born on September 23, 1920; the son of J. Aaron and Bessie Viola Eshelman Hege. He served with the U S Army and was a member of the VFW serving on the honor guard. He was employed by the Koppers Company until his retirement in 1975. He continued working with various construction companies in and around the Winchester area. He was very talented and loved to garden. He married Helen Louise Carver on December 11, 1945 in Baltimore, MD. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2007. Surviving Abram are his sons, Ronnie Hege of Maryland and Abram “Sonny” Hege and his wife, Carolyn, of Rotonda West, FL; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, A. J. Hege and his wife, Romaine, of FL; brother in law, Robert Carver and his wife, Becky, of Winchester; sister in law, Thelma Newlin of Stephens City; numerous nieces and nephews and his care givers at Top of the Hill Manor who were like family to him. Along with his wife he was preceded in death by sons, Ralph Carver and Roland Hege. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, October 12, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Macedonia Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Mayton officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown, VA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity of your choice.
