Richard Wiencek

Richard Walter Wiencek, 85, died Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, Va, following a stroke. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Trudy and his son: Karl, his daughters: Sandy and Donna, sons-in-law: Steven and Bob, and daughter-in law, Lori. Richard is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew, Jacob, Kevin and Kelly. Although born and raised in Chicago, he considered himself a lifelong resident of the Northern Neck. In his early years, Richard served in the Navy during the Korean War. Following his Naval service, he joined Western Union and was a hard working, loyal and dedicated employee for 25 years. In 1981, Richard and Trudy decided to retire. In retirement, Richard dedicated himself to supporting his Church - St Francis de Sales Church and anyone in need of a friendly, smiling face. Richard was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 60 years. A viewing will be held on Sunday, Aug 7, 2016, from 6 to 8pm at Currie Funeral Home, 116 East Church Street, Kilmarnock, Va. A Resurrection Mass followed by the burial will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016, at 11:00am at St Francis de Sales Church ,154 East Church St. Kilmarnock, Va. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
