Lucille Blades Obituary

Lucille Evans Blades, 93, born February 17, 1923, daughter of the late George Shafter Evans and Margaret Sneade Evans. She graduated from Crisfield High School in June 1939 and married Charles L. Blades on September 6, 1940. She worked at Charles D. Briddell, Inc. until they went to Baltimore to work. Mrs. Blades then worked at Sears Roebuck and Co., as an office clerk for about a year, then worked at the Glenn L. Martin, Co. for 6 months and did not work until 15 years later at Motor Freight Express as Secretary to the Director of Maintenance where she retired in 1978 after 21 years of service. She moved to Kilmarnock in 1981. She is survived by two children, Sally Ann Maeby and David N. Blades; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and brother, Ret. Major Jack S. Evans. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lyons and sister, Helen Evans Mrs. Blades was a member of Claybrook Baptist Church where she was director of the WMU for several years, a Past Matron of King Carter Chapter # 5, OES, a member of the RGH Auxiliary and also the Gideons Int'l Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a. m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p. m. Friday, October 14 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Claybrook Baptist Church, P. O.
