James Mitchell Obituary

James Mervin Mitchell, 84, of Kilmarnock, entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on September 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was very honored to have helped build Rappahannock General Hospital and then was the Director of Engineering for the hospital. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Helen Hearold Mitchell. He is, also, survived by 3 daughters, Frances McGinnis(Wayne) of Fredericksburg, Joyce L. Mitchell of Kilmarnock and Iris M.Treakle(Bryan) of White Stone and one son, Jim S. Mitchell(Sue) of White Stone. James is, also, survived by 3 granddaughters, Reyne Mitchell(Mike) of Charleston, SC, Samantha Somers(Thomas) of Heathsville, and Daphne Brown of Maryland and 2 grandsons, John Sterling Mitchell(Elizabeth) of Sandston and David James Treakle of Charlottesville, and 3 Great grandchildren who he loved deeply, Emma, Lucas and Lilly Ann. He is survived by a sister, Virginia M. Tucker of Lancaster and a very special brother-in-law, Sonny Hearold of Irvington and numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hulda W. Mitchell of Lancaster and his twin brother, Melvin Mitchell of Lancaster. A celebration of his life service will be held on September 17, 2016, at 2 pm at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, VA. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Hospice,Tappahannock, who took wonderful and loving care of him or Bon Secours RGH Cancer Center.
