Carolyn "Sugar" Deane Shaw, 85, of Lottsburg, Virginia, went to be with the Lord, on October 18th, 2016. She passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her adoring family. She was the beloved wife of Reginald V. Shaw for 33 years. Carolyn was born November 4, 1930, in the District of Columbia to Katheryn D. Gates and George W. Gates. She was a graduate of Washington and Lee High School in 1948 and received a business degree with a minor in education from Radford College. She had a successful career with the Small Business Administration. She started as a typist and advanced to the position of federal investigator all while raising five children. She loved her family, her community and her church. She was a natural leader and never hesitated to assist someone in need.
