André FauntLeRoy Obituary

André FauntLeRoy died on September 25, 2016 in Farnham, Virginia, after a long illness. He was 80 years old. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elisabeth (Betsy) FauntLeRoy (née Parlett), and survived by his three children: Andrew R. FauntLeRoy of Portland, Oregon; Mary Catharine (Cassie) Cooper of Afton, Virginia; and James M. FauntLeRoy of Westfield, Indiana; and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Reid FauntLeRoy of Westminster, Maryland and sister, Betsy FauntLeRoy Marker of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Born September 18, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to Mary L. and William R. FauntLeRoy, André was the youngest of eight children. He grew up in the Baltimore area and following his father's death in 1947, lived for a short time in Tampa and Nassau. He graduated from Towson High School in Baltimore in 1954, soon thereafter joining Baltimore Federal Savings and Loan as a bank teller. It was there that he met his wife Betsy, whom he married in 1963. André attended Johns Hopkins University and the University of Baltimore School of Law, subsequently making his career with the Equitable Trust Company (later Maryland Bank and Bank of America) in Baltimore as a trust and estate attorney. Following semi-retirement in 1992, he continued to provide private trust and estate consulting to a number of regional banks. During the Vietnam era, André served with the Maryland Army National Guard. After his wife's passing in 1997, André moved to the beautiful Northern Neck of Virginia, following his strong interest in family history and genealogy. He became a docent at Historic Christ Church in Irvington, and enjoyed life close to the Chesapeake Bay. A memorial and interment at Christ Church will be scheduled at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to Multiple Sclerosis National Research Institute.
