Sylvia Hess

Mrs. Sylvia Jean Dye Hess, age 74, of Rowe, Virginia passed away Friday (September 2, 2016) in a Richlands, Virginia hospital. Born May 17, 1942 in Russell County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John Fred and Bertha Emily Keen Dye. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of Ivy Springs Baptist Church at Swords Creek, Virginia. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Johnny Dye, Bob Dye, Tom Dye, Elmer Dye and Perry Dye; five sisters, Maxie Hale, Becky Hale, Hazel Campbell, Hester Huge and Pinkie Dye. Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-five years, Raymond Reevis Hess of the home; one daughter, Jeanie Whited and husband, Jess of Swords Creek, Virginia; two sons, Danny Hess and daughter-in-law, Marlena of Avondale, West Virginia and Terry Hess of Craigsville, Virginia; four granddaughters, Renada Deel and husband, Robert, Beth Jones and husband, Brian, Jessica Altizer and husband, Dustin and Jennifer Whited and companion, Jason; three grandsons, Brandon McGlothlin and wife, Kim, Brian Crouse and Shannon Hastings; five great-granddaughters, Tara Deel, Maggie Deel, Paiton McGlothlin, Olivia Altizer and Madison Jones; two great-grandsons, Braxton McGlothlin and Grayson Jones; two sisters, Darlene Dye and Jackie Johnson; one brother, Billy Dye and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Troy Harris and Rev. Phillip Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Nuckles-Hess Cemetery on Fletcher’s Ridge, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Braxton McGlothlin, Brandon McGlothlin, Robert Deel, Brian Jones, Brian Crouse and Dustin Altizer. Relatives and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6 PM Sunday at the Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Tommy Dye officiating.
