Mrs. Myrtle “Peggy” Hess, age 76 of the Gardner section of Honaker, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Friday (October 21, 2016) at her home. Born September 13, 1940 in Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Elizabeth Yates Artrip. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended Harmony Community Church. She had formerly been employed as a cook at David’s Grocery and Deli in Honaker, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Cecil Artrip and Joe Artrip. Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Billy Gene Hess of the home; three children, Carolyn Fleenor, Sharon Herndon and husband, Paul, and Randall Hess; two sisters, Shirley Crabtree and Judy McGuire; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Mike Dye officiating. Interment will follow in Ketron Memorial Gardens at Lebanon, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.
