Mr. James “Harold” Street, age 67, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Saturday (May 28, 2016) in a Bristol, Tennessee hospital. Born August 11, 1948, he was a son of the late Junior “June” and Hazel Arwood Street. A lifelong resident of the area, he had formerly been employed as a heavy equipment operator of Delrick Corporation and an equipment operator mechanic for Jewell Smokeless. Being of the Pentecostal Holiness faith, he and his wife had spent many years singing and worshiping at many area churches as “The Streets”. He enjoyed his spare time fishing, working with his sawmill, and farming, especially with his horses. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. Being a “kid at heart”, he had a love for children with many area kids referring to him as “Poppaw”. Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Mildred Street of the home; one daughter, Melina Miller and husband, Sammy of Davenport; one son, Mitchell Harold Street and wife, Tammy of Raven; three grandchildren, Melissa Perricilla, Jonathan Harold Street, and Mitchell Blake Street; three step-grandchildren, Kenneth Boyd, Brandon Boyd, and Brittney Miller; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Perricilla and Abigail Street; seven sisters, Maudine Vance and husband, Ronnie, Wilma Meadows and husband, Bill, Darlis Shortridge, Judy Maxfield and husband, Ron, Donna Meadows and husband, Randy, Fayrene Meadows and husband, Andy, and Carolyn Street and husband, Danny; four brothers, Carl Street and wife, Connie, Kester Street and wife, Rita, Kenneth Street and wife, Kathy, and Darrell Street and wife, Regina; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Rowe Pentecostal Holiness Church in Rowe, Virginia with Rev. Dennis White officiating. Interment will follow in the Street Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Darrell Elswick, Larry Hayes, Rodney “Roho” Miller, Chris Clevinger, Terry Keene, and Don Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Rondal Harold Street, James Altizer, Troy Street, Mark “Squeak” Ray, Tom Jones, and the staff of Health South Rehab Center. The family receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Monday and at the Rowe Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, where an evening service will be conducted at 7:00 PM with Rev.
