James Keene

Mr. James Lee Keene, age 55, of the Ball Hollow Road section of Honaker, Virginia passed away Friday (July 15, 2016) at his home. Born October 13, 1960 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of Gracie Whitt and the late Harvey Keene. He had spent most of his life in the area and was a member of Church Alive in Drill, Virginia. A retired coal miner, he had formerly been employed by Consol Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Loretta Keene of the home; five children, Candi Harris and fiancé, Jindy Hess of Honaker, Bradley Harris and wife, Mitzi of Rosedale, Robin Lester and husband, Rick of Honaker, Amanda Hubbard and husband, Gary of Swords Creek, and Amber Keene of the home; seven grandchildren, Lakin Keen, Andrew Marshall, Ryan Harris, Hali Stevens, Cortney Boyd, Cameron Hale, and Noah Thomas; one sister, Wilma Kinder and husband, Ronnie; half-brother, Michael Whitt; half-sisters, Rita Woodward and Ann Keen; nine great-grandchildren, Braxton Keen, Brayden Keen, Kynzie Keen, Solstice Marshall, Arian Marshall, Kylee Stevens, Mali Stevens, Kloee Boyd, and Sophia Boyd; one expected great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren, Gary Hubbard, Jr., Travis Hubbard, and Jonathan Hubbard; special aunts and uncles, Cecil and Linda Keen, Cart and Maxine Keen; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Dan Curry and Rev. Steve Lester officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at the Frank Smith Cemetery on Big A Mountain, Virginia with Rev. Gerald Lester officiating.. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mikey Lester, Troy Lester, Darrell Lester, Christopher Keen, Samuel Keen, Deric Stevens, Jindy Hess, and Gary Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Keen, Bobby Vance, Sherman Lester, Rick Lester, and Cart Keen. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Sunday.
