Harold Whited Honaker, Virginia Obituary

Harold Whited

Mr. Harold Lee Whited, age 76, of Rosedale, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (August 9, 2016) in Richlands, Virginia. He was welcomed into Heaven and was reunited with his parents and brother. His strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family and friends helped carry him through the last few month. Born June 12, 1940 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a second oldest son of Opal and Avis Boyd Whited. After attending Honaker High School, he met his loving wife Sara Cassell and the two were married on November 2, 1963. A veteran of the United States Army, he had served from 1961-1963. He had retired from Jewell Smokeless in 1998 after 26 years, where he was known as “Liz”. Harold was a member of Swords Creek Community Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and greeter. He enjoyed greeting those who attended church with a hug and smile and fellowshipping with his brothers and sisters in Christ. Harold and Sara lived in Rosedale, where he enjoyed mowing and sitting on his front porch admiring the view, saying he was “One Blessed Man.” He was known for his sweet humbleness and never had an ill word to say and throughout his life he maintained that precious demeanor that won the hearts of all who knew him. He wanted others to see Christ living in him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Tommy Whited in 1986. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years and nine months, Sara Cassell Whited of the home; one son, Stephen Lane Whited of the home; one sister, Linda Dye and husband, Roger of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Sam Whited and wife, Becky of Rosedale; one brother-in-law, Bob Romans of Richlands; his loving nieces, Ginger Hale, Penny Farmer, Jessica Stevens, and Jamie Campbell; nephews, Billie Dye and Danny Dye; twelve great-nieces and great-nephews that called him Pepaw; one newborn great-great-niece.
