Mr. Carl Carlos Sheppard, age 71, of Lebanon, Virginia, formerly of Honaker, Virginia passed away Friday (July 8, 2016) at Maple Grove Healthcare Center in Lebanon, Virginia. Born December 15, 1944 in Drill, Virginia, he was a son of the late Alex McKinley and Lola Mae Baldwin Sheppard. He was a lifelong resident of the area and always enjoyed going to area churches and praying for others. He loved everyone and always wanted to share a piece of candy with each person he met. Christmas was one of his very favorite holidays and he loved sending out Christmas cards and playing Santa Clause. He was an avid bird watcher and a friend to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Sheppard. Survivors include five brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Geneva Sheppard of Rowe, Virginia, Bill and America Sheppard of Grissom Creek, Virginia, Needem and Martha Sheppard of Phoenix, Virginia and Otis and Wyonna Sheppard and Earnest “Duke” and Virginia “Ginny” Sheppard both of Honaker, Virginia; one sister, Mildred “Midge” Honaker of Honaker, Virginia; brother-in-law, Jim Honaker of Bristol, Tennessee; the residents and staff of Maple Grove Healthcare Center who became like family to him and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Baldwin and Rev. Larry Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in the Baldwin Cemetery at Drill, Virginia. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends after 6 PM Sunday at the Honaker Funeral Home where an evening service will be conducted at 7 PM with Rev. Chester Ball and Rev. Ray Bostic officiating.
