Mr. Billy K. Keen, age79, of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Wednesday (August 3, 2016) at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee. Born June 2, 1937 in Swords Creek, Virginia, he was a son of the late Willie Daley and Martha Plaster Keen. A lifelong resident of the area, he attended Pine Creek Pole Church in Swords Creek, Virginia. A 1956 graduate of Honaker High School, he joined the United States Army and served during the Berlin Crisis from 1961-1963. A retired machinist, he had formerly been employed by S & S Machinery for over thirty years. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, fishing and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Wilma Jean Keen of the home; two daughters, Kathy Justus and husband, Robert of Lebanon and Kendy Elswick and husband, Scott of Swords Creek; three grandchildren, Hayden Justus, Hailey Justus, and Canton Elswick; one sister, Beulah Joyce Childress and husband, Ralph of Abb’s Valley; one brother, Tom Keen and wife, Janet of Mansfield, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Dennis White officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Military honors will be conducted by American Veteran Honor Guard of Richlands, Virginia and DAV Chapter #31 of Tazewell County, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Brown, Ray Brown, Hayden Justus, Canton Elswick, Jared Shelton, Jerry Hess, Tom Keen, Jr., Stanley Keen, Danny Keen, and Jim Keen. Honorary pallbearers will by members of the Pine Creek Pole Church. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Friday, where an evening song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
