Willie Ruth Austin – Gate City, VA Willie Ruth Austin, 71, Gate City, VA passed away, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, VA. Willie Ruth was born in Scott County, VA on October 14, 1944 and was the daughter of the late George and Mable (Jessee) Bowen. In addition to her parents, her sisters, Lynn Gilliam, Minnie Sue Calton, Loretta Bowen, Bessie McNew, and Nellie Bowen; brothers, Tom Bowen, Jim Bowen, and Bobby Bowen; and sister-in-law, Darlene Bowen preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband, William Cecil Austin, Gate City, VA; daughter, Tammy Darnell and husband, Tim, Yuma, VA; sons, Jeff Austin and wife, Donna, Yuma, VA, Greg Austin and wife, Marcia, Rye Cove, VA, and Jamie Austin and wife, Rhonda, Clinchport, VA; grandchildren, Justin Austin , Brianna Austin, Chris Austin and wife, Paige, and Jacob Austin; sister, Jeannie McNew and husband, John, Pattonsville, VA; and brother, Jerry Bowen and wife, Beulah, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home, and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Rev. Kevin Sanders officiating. Chris Holder and Journey Home will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
