Scott Smith – Gate City, VA Robert “Scott” Smith, 74, Gate City, VA entered into rest, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Scott was born in Scott County, VA on June 11, 1942 and was the son of the late Leonard Lawrence and Clara Vonnie McClellan Smith In addition to his parents, his wife, Linda Jean Page Smith preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, David and Yvonne Smith, Gate City, VA, Regina and George France, Bristol, VA, and Tanya and Brad Shuler, Greenville, TN; 10 grandkids, 3 great grandkids; his special girlfriend, Betty Vance; 11 brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jimmy Combs officiating. Mike Taylor and friends will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. David Dean, Everett McConnell, and Terry Smith will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
