Robert C. Bledsoe – Ft. Blackmore, VA Robert Carl Bledsoe, 91, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Monday, July 25, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Mr. Bledsoe was born in Roda, VA on April 21, 1925. He was the son of the late Raleigh Miles and Gertrude Parrish Bledsoe. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a carpenter by trade. In addition to his parents, his son, Robert Michael (1990); 5 sisters; and 3 half siblings preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Bledsoe, Ft. Blackmore, VA; children; Betty Ann Quillen and husband, Fred; Gate City, VA, Ronnie Bledsoe and Chris Adkins, Kingsport, TN, Sharon Baker and husband, Eugene, Dungannon, VA, Tim Bledsoe and Brandy Collins, Gate City, VA, and Sherry Calton and husband, Dan, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Keith, Shannon, Mylessia, Kristi, Pamela, Rebecca, Jennifer, Haley, Heather, Josh, Kristopher, and Michael; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and 1 expected great great grandchild; sister, Rita Henson, Lexington, KY; brothers, Kermie Bledsoe and wife, Adele, Grantsville, MD and John “Jack” Bledsoe and wife, Ruth, Fallston, MD; half brothers and sisters, Larry Bledsoe and wife, Alma, Kingsport, TN, Linda Howington and husband Ronnie, TN, Mable Russell, Yuma, VA, Donnie Bledsoe, Church Hill, TN, and Tammy Harmon and husband, Dexter, Gate City, TN; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Larry Browder officiating. A eulogy will be given by Rev. James Salling. Mickey and Nikki Summey will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Salling Family Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home to go in procession to the graveside service.
