Michael Lee Gillenwater – Surgoinsville, TN Michael Lee Gillenwater, 62, Surgoinsville, TN was called Home by his Heavenly Father, Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after strongly and bravely battling an extended illness. Michael was born in Sullivan County on April 1, 1954. He retired from Hawkins County Press. His maternal grandmother, Rosa Culbertson, paternal grandparents, E.L. and Lucy (Davidson) Gillenwater, and 2 infant brothers preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie Crawford Gillenwater, Surgoinsville, TN; son, his loving son, Chad and wife, Peggy, Surgoinsville, TN; mother, Alma Lark Hartsock and husband, Fred, Surgoinsville, TN; father, Junior Gillenwater and wife, Dalphine, Kingsport, TN; and grandchildren, Andy Moffitt and Carrie Crawford, Zak Moffitt and wife, Kayla, Deven Gillenwater, and Gracie Gillenwater, who were the light of his life. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Rick Dinkins officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Midway Community Cemetery, Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
