Larry Allen Jennings – King sport, TN Larry Allen Jennings, 68, Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 29, 2016 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. Larry was born in Scott County, VA on December 5, 1947. He was the son of Elizabeth (Roller) Fuller and the late Kenneth Gordon Jennings. He moved to Kingsport, TN in 1970. He was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon for many years. He also sang with several quartets over the years. Larry served in the 1031st Engineering Battalion of the Virginia Army National Guard from 1967-1973. He was formerly employed with Eastman Chemical Company for 33 years before retiring as a Supervisor in the Yarn Plant in 1999. In addition to his father, his step father, Guyle Fuller; grandmother, Gertie Roller; and grandfather, Henry Roller preceded him in death. Surviving is his wife of 46 years, Kaye Jennings, of the home, two sons, Chad Jennings and wife, Susanne, Doha, Qatar and Rev. Todd Jennings and wife, Amanda, Mt. Carmel, TN; four grandchildren, Sydney and Ethan Jennings, Doha, Qatar and Maddison and Emma Jennings, Mt. Carmel, TN; his loving mother, Elizabeth Fuller, Weber City, VA; sister, Joan Mackey and husband, A.B., Hot Springs, VA; brother, Gordon Jennings and wife, Janice, Yuma,VA; special aunt, Opal Arnold and husband, Donald, Weber City, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a special childhood friend, David Edens, Harlem, GA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - & 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Scott Fields and Rev. Gary Calhoun officiating. Heavenly Reflections and Downpour will provide the music. An entombment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2016 at Oak Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Military rites conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post#3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA, assisted by the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Jack Dodson, Johnny Mullins, Wayne King, Charlie Robinette, Lester Gillenwater, and Ronald Cropper will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at Oak Hill Memorial Gardens at 10:45 a.m., Friday for the Entombment service. At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church, 145 Anco Place, Kingsport, TN 37664.
