Hazel Roach Dixon – Kingsport, TN Hazel Roach Dixon, 77, Kingsport, TN passed away, Friday, August 12, 2016 at Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, TN. Hazel was born in Scott County, VA on June 9, 1939. She was the daughter of the late William and Eve (Moretz) Roach. In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Cotter; sisters, Dorothy Shelton and Maggie Gilliam; brothers, James H. Roach, Claude Roach, Glen Roach, Ray Roach, and Robert Roach; brothers in law, Bill Bell, Robert Buchler, and Luther J “Junior” Gilliam; and sister in law, Genevieve Roach preceded her in death. Her survivors include her sisters, Georgia Mae Roach Bell, Pontiac, MI, and Maudie Roach Buchler, Duffield, VA; brothers, Donald Roach, Duffield, VA and Johnny Roach and wife, Janet, Duffield, VA; nephew, who was like a brother, Alvin Shelton and wife, Charlene, Kingsport, TN; sisters in law, Shirley Roach, Henrietta Roach and Mary Roach, all of Duffield, VA and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Joe Hill and Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Durham’s Chapel Quartet will provide the music. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Roach Family Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers. Alvin Shelton will serve as honorary pallbearer. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Gate City Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
