Frances Sprouse

Mrs. Juanita Frances Bowen Sprouse, age 75, of Covington, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Runk-Pratt at Liberty Ridge, Lynchburg. She was the wife of the late James Edward “Jim” Sprouse and the mother of the late Mary Lynne Holley, her angel in heaven. Mrs. Sprouse was born June 2, 1940 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Charles William Bowen and Mary Frances Morris Bowen. A lifetime resident of this community, she was a graduate of the C&O Nursing School, Class of 1960. Mrs. Sprouse had been employed as a nurse by Liberty House and was a homemaker. She enjoyed talking on the telephone, shopping, being with her grandchildren and was known as “Nana” to many people. Frances was a member of Parrish Court United Methodist Church since her eighth grade year and was married in the church. Mrs. Sprouse is survived by a son, James Todd Sprouse of Goodview; a daughter, Kathy Lea Price and husband, Robbie of Forest; a son-in-law, Freddie Holley, Jr. of Covington; three grandchildren, Ryan Todd Holley of Breckenridge, CO, Evan Robert Price and Luke Edward Price; a sister, Tressie Faidley and husband, Al E. Faidley of Murrells Inlet, SC; a niece, Lisa Kay Floyd and husband, Dean of Murrells Inlet, SC; a nephew, John Faidley and wife, Stephanie of Winston-Salem, NC; two great nieces, Brooke Cox and Peyton Cox; special friend, Louise Humphries; and her cats, Punkin and Peadiddle. In addition to her parents, Charles William and Mary Frances Morris Bowen and her husband, James Edward “Jim” Sprouse, Mrs. Sprouse was preceded in death by a brother, Charles V. Bowen. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Parrish Court United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Warren and Rev. Deb Washer officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ron Schultz, Jim Skeens, Jim Carpenter, Pat Harrison, Scott Holley, Glenn Hinkle, Patrick Jackson and John Faidley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to COPE-Food Pantry, C/O McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church, 900 N.
