Clara Persinger

Mrs. Clara Cook Bishop Persinger, age 79, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the Springs Nursing Home, Hot Springs. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Aubrey Lanier Bishop and Lonnie G. Persinger. Mrs. Persinger was born April 27, 1937 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Oliver Cook and Clara Persinger Cook. She was a graduate of Covington High School, a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church where she was a former Treasurer of the United Methodist Church Women and a former member of Falling Spring Fire Department Auxiliary. Clara also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafts, gardening and hunting. She is survived by a son, Aubrey L. “Audie” Bishop and wife, Karen; one daughter, Ella Mae Bishop Dressler and husband, Kenny; two brothers, Johnny Fox and Isaac Fox, one sister, Mary Cook Kern and husband, J.P. Kern; three grand children, Zachary Bishop, Travis Dressler and Justin Dressler; a brother-in-law, Gary Bishop; a sister-in-law, Patricia Knauss; a number of nieces and nephews; and her family of caregivers at the Springs Nursing Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 15, 2016, at Alleghany Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Falling Spring Fire Department, P.O. Box 880 Covington, VA 24426 or Mountain Regional Hospice, P.O.
