Bettie Boguess

Bettie Stone Boguess, age 73, of Covington, died Saturday, September 3, 2016, at her residence. She was the wife of the late John Andrew Boguess, Jr. Mrs. Boguess was born March 4, 1943 in Covington, a daughter of the late Charles Russell Stone and Elizabeth Gleason Stone. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Boguess was a graduate of Covington High School. She was a school bus driver for the Covington School System, a clerk and cook at Whitey’s, and a long time babysitter of many children in the community. Most of all, she was an avid supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Boguess is survived by her son, Fred Forbes, III of Blue Ridge; three daughters, Elizabeth “Buffie” Hatfield and husband, Gary, of Troutville, Carla Arritt and husband, Kirk, of Covington, LeAnn Stout and husband, Jeremy, of Covington; eight grandchildren, Fred Forbes IV, Heather Forbes Wright, Brittany Forbes, Brooke Denham, Madison Denham, Crystal Herstine, Lacy Arritt, and Jamie Arritt; a number of great-grandchildren; brother, Robert “Butch” Stone and wife Linda, of Troutville; and longtime boyfriend, David Weese. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Garland Whiting officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Loving Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1340 Dee Street, Covington, VA 24426.
