Robert “Paul” Call - On Friday May 22, 2009 Paul Call a resident of Abingdon was taken by angels to his little cabin in Gloryland to live with our Lord and Savior.
He was born May 21, 1943 to Reverend and Mrs. James Henry Call of Saltville. He lived in Hampton, VA where he owned his heating and air conditioning business. He moved back to Abingdon in 1998 to care for his ill parents and a sister. Upon his return to Abingdon he met the love of his life the future Mrs. Call. He was preceded in death by his parents James Henry Call and Anna Call; a sister, Anna Lee Call Wright and two brothers, James Henry Call, Jr. and Curtis Hufford Call.
Left here to carry on his memory are his loving wife, Louise Call; a daughter, Patricia Clark and husband, Chris of Abingdon; two sons, Mark Call and wife, Evelyn of Hampton, VA and Shane Call and wife, Amy of Hampton, VA; three sisters, Millie Call Mansfield of Chesapeake, VA, Dorothy Hall Haynes of Cleveland, TN and Acquilia “Kit” Call Eldreth of Chesapeake, VA; two brothers, Albert Roy Call of Newport News, VA and Arthur Boyd “Whitie” Call of Yorktown, VA; one grandson, Jessee Call; several nieces and nephews and one special niece, Linda Jernigan of Johnson City, TN; and his special family members, Dora Casey and family.
Paul was an avid wrestling fan. He loved fishing, and always had a great joke to tell. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Ernest Henry, Abingdon Dialysis Center and Abingdon Ambulance Services.
Per Paul’s request there will be no services, because of his loving and caring spirit for others he chose to donate his body to medical research in hope that just one person would not have to experience the health problems he had gone through in his life.
Paul had a special love for his “furry children” and “furry grandchildren”. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Washington County Animal Shelter in memory of Robert “Paul” Call.
