Lunes Bues Schlinke, 95, of Nordheim, affectionately known to all as “Granny” went to be with God on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was born in Nordheim, TX on October 17, 1920, to the late Willie and Hulda December Bues. She was a homemaker, woodcrafter, gardener, author and cookie baker. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on April 3, 1921, she was confirmed on August 25, 1935, she graduated as valedictorian from Nordheim High School in 1938 and on November 24, 1938 she married the love of her life, Walter Schlinke. She spent her whole Christian life as a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim, TX. She was also a long-time member of the Herman Sons Lodge, recently being notified of her 75 year membership. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Waldin Bues. She is survived by her loving husband of 77 years, Walter Schlinke; two sons, Dennis (Carolyn) Schlinke, of Nordheim and Dr. James Schlinke, DVM, of Laredo; five grandchildren, Christine (Terry) Brasher of Runge, Connie (Don) Smart of Runge, Clint (Ashley) Schlinke of College Station, Brent (Marina) Schlinke of El Paso and Clay (Jessica) Schlinke of Boerne; fourteen great-grandchildren, Courtney (Shane) Kulik, Candace Franke, Caitlynn Smart, Claire Smart, Caryn Smart, Grant Schlinke, Hudson Schlinke, Gage Schlinke, Jacob Schlinke, Erik Schlinke, Rachel Schlinke, Tyler Schlinke, Tristan Schlinke & Meadow Schlinke; two great-great-grandchildren, Colt Speed and Cinley Kulik; two step great-grandchildren, Johnathan Brasher & Christopher Brasher. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Yorktown. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 2pm at Finch Funeral Chapel in Yorktown with the Reverend Sue Irvin officiating. Interment will follow at the Nordheim Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent, Clay, Clint, Jacob, Erik and Tyler Schlinke. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the healthcare providers at Accolade Hospice, Yorktown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Dr. Gordon Barth. In lieu of flowers, it was her desire that memorials be made to her lifelong church, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nordheim.
