Jimmie E. ‘J.E.’ Stephens, a resident of Irving since 1940, died surrounded by family at Baylor Medical Center in Irving on Thursday, November 13, 2014. He was born on June 6, 1939 in Stratford, Oklahoma to parents Maurice M. Stephens and Irene Rudder Stephens. Jim was the Founder and President of R&S Painting Contractors Inc. in Irving from 1962 until his retirement in 2001. He is preceded in death by his parents and will be dearly missed by those who survive him including wife Viola Holmes Stephens of Irving; daughter Karen Stephens Sturch of Coppell; son Jimmie Stephens Jr. and husband Abraham Brown of Atherton, CA; sisters Melvalene Warren of Ft. Worth, TX; Linda Jackson and husband Richard of Oklahoma City, OK and Becky Bell and her husband David of Keller, TX; granddaughter Lauren Sturch Flournoy of Coppell, grandson Kyle Sturch and wife Samantha of Colorado Springs, CO; two great grandchildren Mackenzie Flournoy and Max Sturch; Steven Allen of Dallas, Brent Flournoy of Coppell and Greg Sturch of Allen. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Brown’s Memorial Chapel with Richard Jackson officiating and visitation at 12:00 PM Noon just prior to the service.
